What is a “Walking with Mary” Gathering?
CCM (Caminemos con Maria) is a curriculum for a Bible study, created by Rev. Yuri Rodriguez (Episcopal Priest serving at St. Augustine's Chapel in Nashville, TN).
This is an invitation for the church to celebrate the lives and stories of immigrant women in the Bible and in our communities of Faith.
The invitation is to gather through Lent, once a week, in an zoom call, (offered in English and Spanish) where we explore the Bible text, and consider how the experience of Latina immigrants informs the reading of scripture.
The curriculum is enhanced by listening to recorded songs, and a video-podcast. Participants are invited to explore four levels of story-telling, the individual story (podcast), the universal story (the songs in the album), the other story (testimony) and then our own story as the church (the group story).
We are sharing both the story of the other and the story of the church live as we facilitate conversation and build trust.
The materials we will use to facilitate the Bible study are:
1. Curriculum
2. Album of songs and short story (Recorded by Rev. Yuri Rodriguez and the Caminemos con Maria ensemble)
3. Podcast - Available on YouTube
It’s not a talk. It’s not a class.
It’s a living experience of community, faith, and authenticity.
